is it harmful for fish ?

Is your tank new? I have recently set up my new tank and I am having the same problem. Though as per my research, these are not harmful and will go away eventually

In general, if the drift wood is not mature, there should be such white spots. Not to worry, the spots will be gone with the maturity.

I just scrubbed off the white stuff from my driftwood today..it was looking unsightly..shouldnt be a problem
