On a serios note..if u really gonna try Barca. U may try an aurunti first for the time being..bleheri is dwarf and there must be little difference in their attitude from barca or aurunti.

Dim light, floating plant is necessary for any chana as I read.

Avik

I suggest u first read about channa species..and also follow some old thread from this forum to gather knowledge on their temperament. Be prepared before u buy the fish.

I will,
The reason i am asking here is, I am confused, if I am keeping the dwarfs, I will keep in a group. i also got my chiller so no probs with that. But stewarti is something that I will keep alone. SO was askin. And I have kept channa micro before .

C andrao, stewartii and bleheri are dwarfs and can be kept in groups. They tolerate other channa and even smaller fish.

I thought it was opposite? - the larger the channa less aggressive it is, so much that people keep micro rasboras with them.
i luv fish + u luv fis=we luv wish

The larger channa are amongst the most aggressive of fish. They are solitary and intolerant of other fish and conspesifics unless they are a pair. They are usually kept alone.
The dwarf channa are supposedly more social. I've no personal experience keeping them but have seen videos of them in community setups.

Big fish might ignore small fish too little to interest them.. like someone on this forum keeping neon tetras with red bellied piranhas

Well stewartii is not that small as compared to bleheri, gachua or andrao. They can be quite aggro. And in big channas , I guess micros are non agressive, the rest are killers up front

The dwarf channas will be bullied by other fishes..the bigger channas will bully other fishes..best to keep them in species only setup imo.

Arijit, why dont u change the thread title, remove the barca thing and give a proper title.
