Re: Buck tooth tetra

Postby SB Master X » Mon Dec 14, 2015 11:04 am

I am thinking of a 3' x 1' x 1'/1.5'/2' setup lightly planted/non-planted with one or two max predatory fish that can live i am thinking of Pink Tailed Characin, Watermelon fish or Tucan Fish(Chalceus erythrurus), Buck tooth tetra, Nadus, African leaf fish, Archers,African pike-characins (the Belonophago genera),red wolf-characin (Erythrinus erythrinus) , snakeheads but few of them grow quite a large size and few don't but i don't know how to differentiate them :( and are these fishes available at gallif (I live in Sinthirmore).
And also if anyone have experiance in these type of fishes please also suggest me their requirements that will be great help.
Thank You,

Regards
Subu :)

Sir, I don't think any kind of knife fish is adequate for living for a long time in this (3' x 1' x 1'/1.5'/2' setup lightly planted/non-planted) tank specifications, I am not familiar with any kind of knife fish either and also thanks for your suggestion :)

If experts and KACians can highlight me with the list of fishes (Written above) and their availability that would be great help. :)
Thank You,

Regards
Subu

I never knew about "buck tooth tetra" so I never even bothered to open this topic :)
so first change the topic name
second - visit gallif street and make a list of all the fish you see and then we ll select. Or else its useless(seriously) if you just google out fishes because you wont get all in gallif.

in my childhood I was satisfied with keeping red-eyed tetra. They do nearly all stuff a phirana would do but in a smaller size, tear small meat pieces, fly around chasing in the tank with flakes food in mouth etc.

But having said that, there is a "HUGE" difference between
(a) Aggressive fish- who wants to occupy the tank as much as possible, or one who keeps nipping other fish, one who eats ferociously etc
(b) Predatory fish- one who just lives on killing other fish/lives for food.

so make yourself clear on what you want.
i luv fish + u luv fis=we luv wish

Sir,
I Changed the topic and now I know the difference between predatory and aggressiveness. Now does anyone have experience with these fishes Pink Tailed Characin, Watermelon fish or Tucan Fish(Chalceus erythrurus), Buck tooth tetra ( Exodon paradoxus) , Nadus, African leaf fish, Archers,African pike-characins (the Belonophago genera),red wolf-characin (Erythrinus erythrinus) , snakeheads but few of them grow quite a large size and few don't but i don't know how to differentiate them :(.If so can anyone tell me their requirements It will be very helpfull. I will be searching Gallif as I will wait for replies :)
And yes I want Predatory and the tank dimensions are 3' x 1' x 1'/1.5'/2' according to requirement it will be built :)
Thank You,

Regards
