2K15 marine venture-pictures updated 21/7/2015

Postby bunty123 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:48 pm

So am back again after a long time...this time i was inspired by the Mr aqua 12 gallon tank and wanted to make something like that....so finally starting from the smallest things like making the aquarium to making the refugium and also the hood i did it all alone this time.Pictures coming soon....a full diy project and the tank is doing really well.It has been setup on 27/6/2015(the day the tank was officially filled) with live rocks and water from my existing marine setup....i decicded to go bare bottom this time....tank temp remains around 27-28'C and the ac helps a lot....

Tank details:

1.5feetx6inchesx6inches holding approx 2 gallons of water
2 hob filters
diy refugium with rock rubbles and macro algae
lights: narva tubes:actinic and daylight

all set...basically i am using the hood made f cardboard because money matters in marine and i will soon upgrade the hood....

inhabitats:
a mated pair of clarki clown and a small frag of brown polyp

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

do feel free to criticise !!!

Good going ..but keeping in mind the tiny volume of water in question, regular critical parameter testing and dosing is an absolute must, else its not going to be long before you loose them all. I suggest you should keep only one fish, that too something like a blenny or algae vore which will mostly feed on foods created by the system itself and need for external/commercial food source will be minimum. Keep a tight check over Alkalinity , Calcium and Phosphates. Any commercial food contains atleast 2.4% Phosphates in it, feeding fresh shrimps might be better option, as Shrimps have only about 0.7% Phosphate. Soaking commercial foods before feeding is also beneficial as it helps avoid bloat in certain fish species and a majority of Phosphate content is left in the water used for soaking. Ensure you dont add that water in DT while feeding.
Thanks & Regards..
