Saltwater Tank

Postby Roon » Thu May 14, 2015 1:09 pm

Hi all,

This is an account of my recent foray into saltwater fish keeping. So here we go.

The equipment used are:
The tank: It's 18.7 us gallons to be exact, but it is 20 gallons. Believe me it is. :D

There was a skimmer lying around so I put it in and it happens to work i.e. it spews frothy things out of it.

There are about 9 kilograms of aragonite sand and 10 kilograms of rock in the tank.

There is also a small power filter in it that helps keep the surface agitated to allow more OXYGEN for the beneficial bacteria (Good guys) to fight crime and keep evil at bay.

There is also a magnetic scrubber somewhere.

Now I present you pictorial evidence.

It has been set up and is running for 12 days now. The salinity is maintained at 1.020 (whatever the unit is). I think I'll let it be i.e. let it bicycle for another 2 weeks or more if needed.

People, please criticize.

P.S. A big thanks to Mithun da who taught me (maybe not directly) the importance of cycling a tank.

@Bunty: It is running smoothly no casualty as of yet except for one fish which committed suicide. Thinking about getting some gobies and blennies.
@Rahuljain832: I have no idea, I didn't buy it it was given to me.
