My new Saltwater cube

Postby SGhosh » Mon Mar 24, 2014 2:20 pm

Hello everyone,
This my first marine setup. Over the years I have kept only freshwater fishes, this is the first time I'm trying to hand at marine.
I recently bought an aquarium of dimension 2' x 2' x 2' (lbh).
I'm planning a FOWLR setup. These are the things I bought for the setup. It would be helpful if you people could guide me through the processes.
Sand: coral and shell dust.
Filter: Two Fluval C4 Power filters( thinking of adding a canister filter).
Light: 2 T5 10000k tubes.
Salt: I haven't bought anything yet need yours suggestion.(Suggest the source)
Skimmer: This also I need suggestion for my setup.(suggest the source)
Wave maker: Suggest and mention the source (in kolkata )
I'm planning to keep a pair of true percula clown and an anemone.
Rocks: From where can I buy LR?
Test kits: API -PH and NO2 kits I bought, need anything else? suggest.
Hydrometer I bought.
Do I need anything else?

How do I start off?

Filter: Two Fluval C4 Power filters( thinking of adding a canister filter). ----- for (Fluval C4 Power filters) are talking about HOB ones ? and cannister filters do no good for saltwater tanks. so adding a sump would be of a much better idea than a cannister.
Light: 2 T5 10000k tubes. - I suggest you put in Actinic lights which is very good for coralline algae which you might wish for in your marine tank.
Salt: I haven't bought anything yet need yours suggestion.(Suggest the source) ----- Blue Treasure - Marinium - coral pro are fairly cheap salts perfect for FOWLR setups, u can find them with most marine sellers
Skimmer: This also I need suggestion for my setup.(suggest the source) ---- The bigger the better, Only if you put on a budget can a optimum point be suggested
Wave maker: Suggest and mention the source (in kolkata ) ----- check out this thread - viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3106&p=56707&hilit=wavemaker#p56707
I'm planning to keep a pair of true percula clown and an anemone. ----- Remember to cycle the tank to full maturity before keeping an anemone in the tank
Rocks: From where can I buy LR? ------ According to WTI act Live rocks are banned in India, so I don't think you would get an open seller, but then of course money buys everything.
Test kits: API -PH and NO2 kits I bought, need anything else? suggest. ------ I suggest u buy an ammonia kit asap. though ammonia is converted to NO2 but still sudden spikes prove devasting, and maybe you wont have time till its converted to NO2.
Hydrometer I bought.
Do I need anything else? ----- U need a Sump !

Hello there,
Coral and she'll dust won't do any good, replace to red sea reef sand.
Wavemaker jabeo.
Hob won't do any good,
Sump
Protein skimmer
ATS or refugium
Try MarinePure block instead of liverock
Save nature

Hope that helps.
