50 litre sw tank -pg 2 some questions

Postby bunty123 » Tue Jan 07, 2014 3:55 pm

Hi, I know most of you had seen me struggling with my small nano, asking and troubling most of you with lots and lots of questions. Now I can say that I am finally successful with a new nano project ie. of 50 litre. The tank has been setup last week of december with water rocks and substrate from my old setup. After going through the process of reading and trial though I failed to setup a small 5 gallon nano but am proud that I finally have a nano 13 gallon. But thats not all, I have successfully kept a sebae clow.Even the best part I had was treating the clown.it was sick with loss of apetite and I was successful in curing kitwith prodac oodi medik coral a d its living happily for last 2 weeks eating properly, like a pig to e more specific.i hope most of you all will be happy to hear this and I will soon be updating this thread with pics.

if you are really serious about setting up a marine setup, start with a tank of atleast 2.5' dimension. Nanos are for experts. If you are really serious about making a marine tank and sustaining it for a long period, then i suggest you make a proper tank. You can keep a clown fish in a bucket of salt water, but thats not called making a marine tank.

start with FO or FOWLR, maintain it for atleast 2 seasons, then upgrade to reef.

Subhadeep

These are marine macro algae and are normal in a new tank due to higher conc. of nitrate and phosphate. Give your tank few months to mature and do partial wc bi-weekly if you have no sump.
It 'll help to reduce NO3 & PO4 level.
And it 'll prevent any unwanted algae bloom.

Nextly, your drs are seems to me quite non-porous. Is it true or its due to your pics problem?

If its not highly porous, then its certainly not very good quality drs.

Be carefull, as, blunt and non-porous dead rocks always has a pH lowering trendency.
Which is not ideal for a saltwater tank.
THERE IS NOTHING AS TRANSPARENT AS WATER. BE TRANSPARENT, AND WORLD COMES TO YOU THE SAME. ALWAYS KEEP SMILING.....

REGARDS..........

What does your tank readings say ?

Which test kits are you using ?
