My first marine tank!WIP!!

Postby Sammy989 » Mon May 20, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi guys :), I am Sam from Assam.
Well, as long as i can remember i can remember i was always fascinated by the sea and sea creatures. So this is my chance to create a part of the sea and try to capture a miniscule fraction of its beauty :x .
So this is my tank.
391
it's a 70 gallon, 40'' inch long and 20'' wide and 20'' high
Now this is gonna be a sumpless reef for the time being. I know you guys are gonna be like /:) :-q . But i plan to keep it that way as long as i can manage without a sump.
I had a bad start when a Aquaticlife 36 Watt led fixture from amazon came damaged =(( .
393392
so i had to return it. But i got this one
394397
This is the DsunY 56-3 watt fixture i got from aliexpress. This one has 3 watt bridgelux LEDs. It is fully programmable with Seasonal,day-night and 29-day lunar cycle.
398399
I am very impressed with this fixture :-bd .
I've got most of the stuff, salt-red sea coral pro,red sea hydro cum thermometer, refractometer, sera aqua test kit,a fluval c4 hob filter for chemical filtration and a Hailea HC150-A chiller.
I am a little confused about the hob skimmer :-\ I am planning for a Bubble magus NAC5e skimmer rated for 300-500 litres. Is this overkill, as ill keep only softies and maybe one or two LPS. And also do suggest a decent cheap circulation pump to last for a year.
Talking of fishes maybe a pair of clowns, pair of firefish or purple gobi, 4-5 chromis, yellowtail damsel and of course my old scat, hope he doesnt die during acclimatization :ympray: .
Plus,i will use seachem pearl beach as substrate upto 2 inches. As for live rock please suggest a shop in kolkata which can ship cured live rock by train, my lfs in Guwahati has absolutely useless smelly rock with no trace of coralline.
So guys :) any suggessions please feel free :D

Hi, I am also from Guwahati and into planted tanks.
Where did u arrange all these stuff for Marine? Aquaaesthetics? He was the only reasonable person of all the lfs I talked/met. He also understands planted tanks like any hobbyist.

Hello Mithun da,
Controller wattage is 120 watt. Bridgelux 28 white 12000K and 28 blue 450-460nm and the price is 289 dollar with free shipping. Mine is two panel, there is a bigger four panel model also i think. I got them from aliexpress.com search for DsunY. Dada do you know any lfs in kol which can ship decent live rock at about 200 per kg. laaquaria guy is asking total 8500 for 30 kgs to my nearest station. should i source from him. And any ideas on the BM skimmer and wavemaker, how about jebao.

Ok i was blind...now i can see
So i am going to make a sump....but as my tank is not pre drilled....this is what I have in mind for the overflow
overflow design.gif

This is supposed to look like

715863 (1).jpg

This design is supposed to prevent overflow in case of outage
So what do you guys think :-\ .... any improvements on the design i should add :-?
