rcs are the most hardy shrimps..i use normal tap water with rid all anti chlorine(4-5 drops /10 ltr).
And my rcs are happy and breeding rapidly..but be careful to maintain the temperature below 30°C.
if ur tap water is good enough to keep fish, imo that is perfect too for the shrimps..
mine is a 2 feeter planted with diy co2(sugar yeast) and diy substrate.
best of luck for ur new venture...

rcs mainly feed on the bio layer formed inside the tank..on moss etc..
u will find them munching all day on that.
but u can always feed them with good quality fish food and occational treat of carrot and spinach (boiled)
....

RCS are hardy and unless you have a major water parameter turmoil/high co2 injection they will survive and breed. They do better in a stable tank and I personally have never fed my RCS apart from occasional algae wafer bits!

Now the question abt water change.. in 1ft cube , i am using a cpu fan for temp reduce.. so every week an amount (15_20%) of water evaporated.. so, i just add that much water to the cube.. nothing else..
Is it enough ? Or have to increase the amount of wc weekly..
