Finally have my sulawesi dream - babies.

Finally have my sulawesi dream - babies.

Postby Abhisek » Fri Nov 20, 2015 1:18 pm

Hi All,

Finally been able to have my first sulawesi shrimps! I don't know how many years I have waited for them, how many setups I made, how many setups were ripped off due to frustration. In my tenure of shrimp keeping of 5 years, along with blue tiger, sulawesi are one shrimp which I was dying to lay my 'hands' on.

The below threads shows how much I have been eager to get them!

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1670&p=26044&hilit=sulawesi#p26044

This current system also was running for last 3 months and also after many importers promise that they will get me sulawesi shrimps, I started feeling disheartened again due to unavailability of them.

Lost hope on the importers, took matter on own 'hands' and finally landed them!

They are doing good as of now, but hiding when I am approaching the tank which is some how fine. So cant capture a proper image of them.

So as of now please check the video :)

Queries, suggestions are welcome :)

Yes will keep this thread updated!

They are very hard to capture, as they goes into hiding whenever they see me infront of the tank.

The water is 100% RO water and remineralized with Salty Shrimp 8.5. This way it maintains the water parameters.
The basic thing for sulawesi is that their temperature shouldn't drop very low. Above 25 it is ideal.

I do weekly wc with 10% water - premixed. The water change is done through drip method so that they dont go into shock.

The hiding thing is ok..let them know the new environment. That's a good idea..wc in dripping method.

You ever read about diy salt for Sulawesi shrimp?

Nope.

I dont know much about DIY salt regarding shrimps. And actually Salty Shrimp is the best when it comes regarding Sulawesi shrimps.

There are some substitutes but I dont want to risk on them.

One not so good video, but certainly one of the best and sought after shrimp I am keeping! They are still very much shy and hard to capture and also they are still juvies.

I can say that I am the first one to keep them in our country.

A lovely sulawesi shrimp, people call it as starry night but generally known as white orchid.

Finally tasted a bit of success.

After 4-5 days came home and saw baby cardinal in my home.

What my sulawesi shrimp friend told me that they might be 2+ week old.

Sorry for the crappy video - clicked at 3x zoom on mobile phone.
