Postby Achintya » Thu Jan 07, 2016 12:57 pm

After years, I again get another batch of Apistogramma Agassizi. They are doing so far so good.

i think one should not care about all those double red, triple red ,quadruple red and so on.when you have got a costly fish(atleast in kolkata :p ),care should be taken that it doesn't suffer from any illness or being bullied by tankmates or feel insecured in a tank dominated by scaping with little importance to livestock. This time, try to breed it.
The price of this fish should have come down 50 Rs a piece considering how much craze and hype was generated in 2012 but due to unavoidable circumstances the tables were turned in hungry businessmen's favour. This dwarf cichlid is still sold at prices unimaginable not just to indians but abroad too.And if somebody from the west sees that Indians are paying so much for this thing, they will mock us.
i think if this fish is bred in captivity by any hobbyist and a few of those babies distributed to howrah and midnapore breeders the price would definitely come down to 5 or 10 rs a piece and will one day be sold in galiff within plastic packets just like what happened to ramirezi.
Btw i feel rams look much more eye pleasing than apistos but with one exception, apisto cacatuoides which is as good as top quality rams itself.
dont play with the woods like you did last time.let the fishes settle and enjoy.Make sure that they feel the tank like their own home.
i hope a lot of hiding space is there now .All the best :) .......

Sorry will not take any picture as of now. They have no color, but for 1 of them is showing little bit color. Now I am waiting for their food to come.

Agree with Rahul, I don't know whether it's double red (last time I had double red). At least this time,I am happy with their price. Last time, I paid almost 3 times for that Agassizi. For that tank, you know I rescaped 1 year ago and no change has been done after that. I have provided them enough hiding place, they are doing so far so good. Showing good tendency to take food and moving properly. I think an so called ideal condition has been provided for them. Lets see and finger crossed.

Not sure how so much hyped this species has become..how was it popularised but I would say unless someone really is willing to look at a living statue for most of the day, kribensis always was and will remain the best dwarf cichlid of all time.
Thanks & Regards..
