Can i use solenoid valve on diy co2

Postby thatssam2001 » Tue Nov 08, 2016 4:31 am

Hi guys,
I need some input from you.

I am lookimg to automate co2 and light for my planted tank.

Can i use this solenoid valve with diy co2 (citric acid & baking soda).

I am thinking to add this and light to timer plug so that on specified time light and co2 goes off and on.

Thanks in advance.

Better you don't try it. Even if you somehow fix a solenoid you can't stop generation of CO2 when light is off. Now forcing CO2 to stay inside of a plastic bottle means having a co2 bomb at home.

In my opinion we normally keep the pressure in co2 bottles right?

no, the generation of co2 depends on the o/p of co2...if the output is stopped, the generation will stop too. its a balanced system... :)

but yes, a modification in the system architecture is reqd to prevent the excessive pressure generation towards the end of the period when too much soln is accumulated in d soda bottle.
