Aiptasia
Phylum: Cnidaria
Class: Anthozoa
Order: Actiniaria
Family: Aiptasiidae
Genus: Aiptasia

Bio logy This anemone, as well as many other cnidarian species, is found to contain symbiotic dinoflagellate unicellular algae of the genus Symbiodinium living inside nutritive cells. The symbionts provide food mainly in the form of lipids and sugars produced from photosynthesis to the host while the hosts provides inorganic nutrients and a constant and protective environment to the algae

why disturbing element
this anemone shock coral nutrients and coral suffer from malnutrition and became die .

Way to killing aiptasia
1 in nature butterfly eat aipatasia ( but butterfly also eat coral polyps)
2 lesser therapy is also used ( but if miss the target destroy choral tissue and due to reflection of lesser ray neighbor coral became damage )
3 Vinegar also used for killing aiptasia ( Harmful for coral if target was missed and over dose)
4 Red sea Aiptasia x ( guaranteed killing Aiptasia .Not harmful for corals and clams if missed )

They can be easily killed by injecting hot water or calcium hydroxide (chun jol) or as Aquaticlife suggested by injecting vinegar.

From my personal experience, I found the most efficient process is by injecting calcium hydroxide ( chun jol).

@ kesthoda, you have encountered these species before? They come in live rocks?

krishnendu da hot water is no work. calcium hydroxide is workable but it also increase ph . and if miss the target can destroy anther creature .
if an aiptasia is middle of polyps colony u cant use caoh because it also damages ur coral . then u ned lesser or aiptasia x or butterfly. and commercial product is more effective than other and granted cure .

The best treatment that can be done to Aiptasia or Pest Anemone is Joe's Juice. It effectively treats these pest anemone and you can see them die in front of your eyes with target application. But Joe's Juice is not always available. For me vinegar is not the other option as it will harm the corals as well. The 2nd best option that I found was mild citric acid in form of lemon juice. Just buy a syringe from you local medical store and get some fresh lemon juice... and inject it on your target. Bingo!!! They will fade off soon. But you should do little areas at time, as you will not really want to affect the PH value in your tank.

the pH value of lime water (chun jol) is approx 9. i dont think 10ml solution of this will effect much on 250 ltrs of salt water at pH 8.2. I have never faced a pH increase problem with lime water treatment.

yes, if target is missed it may hamper other corals, we have to do it cautiously.
