injury on mouth of watchman goby

Postby el batty » Mon Dec 24, 2012 8:36 pm

Bought one...used to hide all the time under a rock...only eat what food drops infront of his cave and vanish.
Today, saw the fish on the open...but like hole in the head of cichlids, its as if a bacterial infection on the lower lip. Part of it seems missing too. The fish seems agile though.

Never had any issues with this. So, any clue how to deal with it or is it like, if a marine fish gets sick, throw it away in quarantine?
Just took it out in quarantine tank from tank water..filled it to 6" max as i saw the fish trying to swim up. gave some pellets, ate it. So, hunger is there. Will add a thermostat tomorrow and maintain at 24.

What else?
Regards,
Subhadeep

The fish died today morning...i strongly suggest KAC to open a section of diseases and treatments in the salt water section.

Got the suggestion of Melafix, but its too late now. Faced the same problem before too..if not practical knowledge, we could have some references too with pictures so that a guy doesn't need to throw a fish in the morning.

I follow a simple method, as long as the fish is eating i dont disturb it by moving it toa quarantine tank, this makes the fish more stressed.

ya, me only!
bottomline i can draw is, if your marine fish is injured or sick, this is not the place to look for results unfortunately.

We need more marine guys who have practical knowledge.
