Hi Subhuadeep

I always keep Cuprazin with me.This is for quarantining any new fishes or any fish that shows signs of ich.
I tried the bactonil marine once, but that did not work out for me.
But with cuprazin ( A mixture of copper and formalin), it always worked for me.

Cheers

Hi

Refer this site:
http://www.waterlife.co.uk/waterlife/cuprazin.htm

Note: Please do not administrate more than recommended. My tang (currently under quarantine ) went on hunger strike as he did not like the extra dose.

Cheers

In saltwater the golden rule is "Prevention is better than cure"

What I have learned in the last few years is curing a marine fish has much less option s than freshwater fishes.

1. Before doing a water change or putting the infected fish into a new quarantine tank you have to match all the parameters of the main tank water, else the fish will get stressed.

2. Increasing the water temp is not a good idea either, high temp will effect the invertebrates, micro organisms and also coraline algae of your tank.

Minor problems like itch can be treated by

1. By changing the water parameter of the tank, water parameter means
a) increasing/decreasing the water circulation flow rate
b) increasing/ decreasing the pH value of the water (not to higher extent may be from 8.2 to 8.5)
c) increasing or decreasing the specific gravity of water by 2-3 decimal points (may be 1.22 to 1.25 or 1.26 to 1.24)

2. By giving a fresh water dip

http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/hyposa ... fwbath.htm
(fresh water dip is not at all recommended for beginners, one should be very cautious while performing the act)

Apart from this 2 methods I do not have much hands on experience with medicines.

i do feel that for for exo parasites, freshwater bath is the best bet. It has science behind it. But how do we even judge what's what? :|
