DIY supplements for marine aquarium

As we all know, supplements required for maintaining a marine aquarium are very costly. I am requesting all marine hobbyist to share their DIY efforts in this field.

I am providing few links of Calcium and Magnesium dosing. I have been following this methods for the last 2 years.

will just epsom salt act as a source for Mg in marine if i follow the recipe?

yes...but you have to do periodic water change.. to balance the sulphate level of water.

was reading the recipe well today...its relatively easy to make...will

Epsom salts and magnesium chloride hexahydrate serve as a better choice for Mg dosing?

Magnesium chloride is a better option but its costly approx rs 350 /500 gm.

the magnesium part is easy to make but not the others.

how much is needed?
Actually was planning to buy epsom salt today and would have planned to visit some chemical stores tomorrow.
