HoB skimmer

Postby bunty123 » Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:37 pm

Hope you guys have seen the thread 'my first 12gallon sw'.
As batty da suggested to get a skimmer after 1 month i will do so but the main cause for the creation of this page is to get suggeation bout hob skimmers some say hob skimmers are useless .is it true?
Else if they do work what skimmer would you suggest me for my 12 gallon sumpless withing a cheap budget!!!! L-)

1st of all bro..........marine is the king of aqua-hobby.
So, in this field, ''cheap'' is a absurd word. In ''cheap'' way you can't even start your car in this path. :D

As, start from salt, then rock.....dead or live, sand, test kits, wave makers, lights t5, t8, metals, actinic or led, skimmers, marine foods, dosing packs and bla.....bla....bla...... And then come for fishes................are they cheap? :-\

But yes, off them, you can just little lower your budget. But, also, you have to choose carefully, that which section is less sensitive and how much you can save your pocket with the surity of your healthy tank.

Now, it is partially true that, hob skimmers are less sensitive than that of in sump skimmers.

But, you can go for Wiepro hob models. Think within 2 to 2.5K you get a more or less standard skimmer. Though you 'll see few models within 1.8K. But don't go for them. They may be usefull for FW tanks but not for even a fowlr marine.

And lastly, nano is more costly than a 4feeter. As its to tough to keep the water parameters in a standby position in small volume of water.

But, hope, you 'll win the challenge........ :)

Goodluck bro.............. :D

for your tank,i'd suggest getting one of those airstone skimmers...anything bigger would look out of shape.
P.S : did a little calculations and i have lost over 9.5K+ in fishes only all though out within around 1.5 yrs! :|

For 50-60ltrs tank I would suggest do not go for skimmer. Imstead go for regular water change.
