food for doctor wrasse

Postby bambi » Wed May 03, 2017 11:08 am

Does anyone has experience in keeping doctor wrasse??? If yes then what can I feed him other than the parasites it forages??? Net says generally they die of starvation in an aquarium... So need help as it is not touching the flakes I put in the tank...
Thanks in advance...
3 planted setups, 2 cichlid tanks, 2 betta setups, 1 turtle tank, 1 nano marine cube.

You can hang up bit of shrimp( frozen super market variety) with a thin string in the water. Blue line wrasse /Dr. Wrasse will love it.

dr wrasses dont need external feeding too much as long as your tank is mature and has good critter population.. they die off in new tanks.. also its unethical to keep dr wrasses given their great role in nature..

My Dr wrasse now feeds on worms and flake food... They gulp it down... And for usefulness it turned my setup parasite free... Yeah they are best kept in nature... As on sale someone would have taken it if not me or have died in the LFS from where I bought as had happened to one that wasn't sold... Either way I agree with you for not having these fishes on sale...

i agree, but you have to think why that fish is on sale? because people buy it.. when buying stops sellers stop selling it! Who would like to stock a fish which doesn't sell?

Hi to all.
Personally, I never feel inclined to get a Dr Wrasse given its natural disposition. Without a huge tank capable of housing the necessary edibles for the Dr, its utterly irresponsible on one's part. BUT, if its feeding on available stuffs, it should hold up good. Just my humble opinion, not meant to offend. :)
