I am satyabrata, new to this hobby. I am learning from reading ur blogs. I live in Berhampore, Murshidabad,so it is not easy for me to get every thing easily. Can u please suggest which salt would be good,as Its a rumour that red sea sold in kolkata is not original. How is seachem or istant reef? Another help I wd request to suggest me a good test kit at a reasonable price. Where should I get it in kolkata? Here I hv to depend on my local retailer. Ur suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Seachem is the best option. But I shall suggest you to make a freshwater aquarium, because it is really easy to maintain and also cheap option. As because you are new to this hobby, then it is better to have a freshwater aquarium rather than a saltwater.

But the decision is upto you. You can also use non-iodide salts rather than the branded one. It will be cheaper than Seachem or other brands. But I can't assure you about the quality.

The best test kits are API. You can get them from Amazon or some other online shops. But always use the liquid one. Because the strips are not always reliable & precise.

Best of Luck, Happy fishing :)

We learn from our failures, just that with a saltwater tank the failures are more expensive and considering the state of our seas, the same is also not very sustainable. The greatest would be a new hobbyist syndrome where you would be tempted to buy whatever you see. That said all the very best, read up tonnes and go exactly by the book, tried and tested methods. As a personal suggestion I would still suggest a freshwater setup n gradually progress.
