Please suggest a small but powerful canister filter

Postby kumar » Mon Feb 27, 2017 11:52 am

hi all,

Please can anyone suggest a filter with good flow for a 40gal planted tank? Problem is I have only 9inch of height under the aquarium to place the canister.

If you can suggest any other makeshift solution also, it will be great. I cant use sump, because I dont have space to add any kind of overflow.

thank you

Thank you Baswan da and Sanam da.

What material do you suggest for the DIY? I always end up with leaky containers. I dont want to risk a flooded room and furniture.

Thank you so much. I just did it now, below are what I found....but :(

This is a drum verison, and wont fit in the space I have right now.

RO filter box, This will need me to put a pump inside aquarium, I dont like that actually
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6021&p=94830&hilit=canister#p94830

More of a top filter, as its not sealed

This plastic box I have tried, it leaks badly from cap

Is there anything particular you want to suggest for long term?

You can then go for a good HOB then, it will server both of your purpose, aesthetically as well as filtering. Just add few bio balls, ceramic rings, and filter floss, and all good to go :)
