Help! Parasites on Tetra

I have had what seems like a parasite attack on my aquarium. There seem to be leech-like parasites which attach themselves on my tetras and then it is followed by the tetras being lethargic, and eventually dying. Has anyone had any experience with this? I have a 16 gallon, planted tank with a shrimp population of about 50. Somebody had suggested a copper sulphate based solution but I fear that will kill off all my shrimps. Can anyone help?

take out the fishes to a 10L/20L bucket, put some aeration and add half a tablet of metrogyl 400...try to keep the temp arnt 28 to 30C, if u dont see the worms falling out after a day, increase the dosage to 1 tablet in 20L

Hi Sanam,

Thanks a lot. Will do that.

Is there any way I can treat my tank? I'm thinking they may have reproduced in the tank. There are quite a few shrimps in there which the copper based medicines might kill so I'm trying to avoid those..

Thanks a lot again.
