Java moss on driftwood

Postby Zeeshan » Sun Dec 11, 2016 6:32 pm

Hi friends

I recently attached java moss to driftwood, say around two weeks back. I do see new growth on the moss now, however on closer observation I saw some very fine thread-like development on the moss. I would like to know what this is? Is this the way the moss propagates or is it something else? Please see the pic attached.

It's hair algae, get rid of it ASAP. Manually try to remove it, with the help of tweezers.

Is there any other way to get rid of it? Removing individual strands with tweezers will be very difficult and might not help to get rid of all the algae.

Get some ghost shrimps. They'll help uproot this pesky algae. Also, try increasing phosphate dosage. I read in some other forum that it inhibits algae growth. This helped me control some algae too. Good luck.

Cheers,
