Java moss-loosing control

Postby zhi » Sun Oct 09, 2016 6:13 pm

Had some java moss tied to a drift wood 3-4 months ago... it slowly died.... but now its come back to life and spreading on the driftwood. It is also all over the substrate and growing in patches... seems it will cover it gradually.... so question is it a good thing or a bad thing???

ps- its a 30g tank and the java moss patches are on one side of the aquarium.
thanks

Re: Java moss or algae

I just realised that it could be some sort of algae like maybe hair algae and not actually Java Moss!! I had assumed it to be Java Moss as it grew on the remnants of the java moss on the driftwood. It is now spreading on the driftwood and substrate but not on any plants. On touch it feels rough-ish and not slimy.

Looks like hair algae mate, be cautious.
