moss covered with dirt and algae

Postby somnathmitra1984 » Wed Aug 17, 2016 3:18 pm

Hello everyone!!
I am a regular follower of this forum and I am truly benefited from this forum discussions. ^:)^
I am seeking help regarding my first attempt to a planted tank.
Details of my tank is as follows:
size : 2.5ftx1ftx1.5ft (28 gallon approx.)
substrate : Granite chips (2-3mm)
Light : 1 T8 LED tube light (7000k),2ft
1 Normal tube light (18 watt, 6500k),2ft
Plants : java fern, anubias nana, amazon sword, lili, cryptocoryne,Vallisneria, pygmy chain sword, cabomba and Christmas moss on wood.
Co2 : Yeast sugar reactor
Fertilizer : Rexolin CXK, Rexolin Fe, Macro nutrients (http://www.ebay.in/itm/500ml-Macro-Nutr ... 1741057926)
Fish : only tiger barb (25 nos.)
Filter : Resun submersible pump B-700(top filter)
Wave maker : sobo wp50m

All other plants are growing well and there is not much trace of algae but only my Christmas moss are fully covered with dirt and algae (what type I dont't know) :-\
I am planning to put some more driftwood but mosses are dying :((
Please suggest what should I do now to recover the mosses from this stage? should I does some liquid Co2 or should I use glut? ~x(
I am attaching pictures for better understanding.
Please help.

Thanks
Somnath

What's the temperature of the water? If it's above 28C then it could be the issue, it's not the weather which got cooler than the summer heat, but it's the lights which is generating excessive heat. Check the water temperature first. Also, what water do you use? Is it RO, or normal? Is there any liquid ferts dosing? Macro or Micro? The first picture is appearing as the mosses are melting, instead of dirt or algae.

Temp of water is 29 deg.I use normal water.liquid fertilizer Rexolin CXK, Rexolin Fe, Macro nutrients.i think that is for bad picture quality.but it is actually dirt and algae.you can see algae over leafs of anubias also.

Thanks Sanam for your reply.
my filter has flow rate of 700lph..should i add another one filter?and what type of filter i should use?
My budget doesn't permit a canister filter.
i will increase co2 and vacuum clean the moss as you told.
fertilizer dosing is as per instructions of different experts including you in this forum. :)
Thanks & Regards
