a glimpse of the previous 29 gallon setup

Postby rahul » Thu May 31, 2012 8:53 pm

IT all took abt six months for just a bare tank with a few cheap saplings from galiff to develop into a jungle. To be honest it was my first planted tank ever and i managed to do it without any filtration even.forget abt CO2 the substrate was dirt mix as stated by the legend of low-tech tanks,Dustin Wunderlich. i however added DIY CO2 for 1 week and observed minor improvements and so discarded it. the only thing that was quite enough- the light of over 3 wpg CFL.
i initially enjoyed looking at the greenery but later got sick of it.
here are some snaps of the inhabitants i would like to share with you. plz do comment and feel free.

when i first saw this rampant growth i was even surprised.however the plants used in this tank were all local and meant for low-tech tanks.I eventually thought of doing something more and so tore this tank down.
For creating low-tech tanks i followed the following book.
ECOLOGY OF THE PLANTED AQUARIUM-----Diana Walstead
It is available in Bittorrent.
