Light for Anubias Species

Postby Rohan » Fri May 25, 2012 9:36 am

What should be the optimum light to grow Anubias healthily? Is a 15w cfl okay in a 2 feet tank for them ?

Rohan I think 15-18 watts is sufficient for a 1ft -15inch H tank

anubias can be grown under very dim to very high light tanks and lighting depends on other factors like places where you put your plants, other plants(fast or slow growers)dosing,co2 etc....if you wish to keep anubias directly under light,18 watts pll is good enough with diy co2 in 2-1-1 tank, but try placing them under some shade if possible

Thanks Kaushik da.

Jayo da planning to keep only low light and slow growing plants. Btw any suggestion how to keep them under shade? Actually i miss their beauty while keeping them under shade.

Would C.Wendtii,Anubias,Java Moss will do good together?

Btw i will post a existing tank shot so please you all suggest what to do or not.

If kept under Low to medium light there is not need to keep them under any shade....
Would C.Wendtii,Anubias,Java Moss will do good together? - All these plants would do fine with each other as their requirements are more or less the same, except that C.wendtii would need a nutrient rich substrate as it is a heavy root feeder.....

I have Anubias (coffeefolia, barteri), C.wenditii, Christmas moss, java moss, bolbitis heudelotii and microsorum pteropus in my low tech set up.... (18"*15"*15" with a 36W pll and glut dosing).... doing well since the past 4 mths....

A pic of the same tank.....
