Eheim fish feeder fell in tank :(

Postby SSubhasis » Fri Nov 22, 2013 3:28 am

Hi,

I brought an eheim fish feeder and was trying to set it up and fix it to my tank. But some how because of the braces at the top of my tank it did not fit properly and fell into the tank.
I took it out and removed battery and dried it with tissue paper. Tried to restart and it worked fine for some time.

Then after 5-10 min it stopped working. Now if i remove the battery and attach it again then the I am unable to reset the time. and while i try to reset the time the display is going away and it totally blank. :(

Its my bad, i should have been careful. Not sure whether if i return the ebay/seller would accept it.

removed the battery and letting it dry. Not sure whether it will recover.

Any suggestion guys?

It's your fault not the sellers so highly unlikely you will get a replacement.

Always a wrong thing to do is switch on electrical goods after it has fallen in the water. You may dry it from the top but the inside will still have water and this after switching it on will cause circuit failures.
Now the damage is done. All you can do is remove the batteries and let it dry for few days. And try again. I hope it works for you.

Many a times I've had light fittings or fans falling in the water. I used to just remove it and keep it aside. Most of the time it worked fine.

Good luck.

bro as najib da said... dont turn on until its completely dried... keep it in a closed container with some silicagel granules for few days 2-3 it will absorb moisture...or i heard that keeping inside a rice container also helps with that... try again after tht ...

Thanks for the advice. I also checked and found the rice trick. Kept it in rice container for 3 days and changed the buttery. Looks like its working fine. Will keep it in watch for dew more days then will attach with tank.
