ok pinakida, will go easy on stocking, and later will buy melanochromis...
but for now tell me one thing....how could one feed carnivore and herbivore cichlids in the same tank with different diets? and again, isn't it harmful to feed the carnivores to feed veggies just like the opposite? my point is, how could I feed my yellow labs and upcoming herbivore mbunas different diet...please help

No it won't .... because branded veg food like Hikari excell, NLS contains enough nitrients which is enough for Carnovorous species as well.. on the other hand most of the braned veg flakes contain SPirulina which enhance Cichlid color ....so if u r keeping Auloncara or hap species its best buy for u..

@Avik, these days good quality labs r hard to find.....2 inch good quality lab might cost u 65--75...

Hello guys, I have some questions in mind...can anyone help me out here?

1. In my tank pH is 7.4, tested with pH strip. Can't tell about hardness, as I don't have the kits. Now is there any cichlid tank buffers available in galliff? Do you guys use it in your cichlid tanks? And lastly how to collect hardness measuring kit? Is it available in galliff?

2. You may find it silly, but this is my first tank with sand as substrate. So I have no idea about cleaning the fish waste right from the sand surface. Is there any device available to do so?

No need to check pH, these mbunas are adapted to Kolkata waters. You can siphon the debris, install a powerhead which wont let the waste gather at one place.

Actually I live in Uttarpara, lot of iron in the water here.
Powerheads? Pointed towards the sand right? How much should they cost Avikda?

Not pointed towards the sand, but just install at a lower level, enough circulation in the below level of the tank is the main concern as I think your canister is taking good care of the flow at the upper level. Also Mbunas like the flow. Powerheads, powerfilter, wave maker anything will do. For better result install two diagonally opposite. But also keep in mind the pfs will increase the tank temp.
